----Cross-database search
----Users can simultaneously search multiple CNKI databases from the convenience of a single interface, eliminating the burden of multiple logins and switching between databases.
----Cross-database Citation Linking
----KNS5.0 now offers citation inter-linking between the China Academic Journals Database and the China Doctoral/Master’s Dissertations Database. Journal articles cited in a dissertation (or vice versa), can be accessed directly through the citation link.
----Search History
----The system records the user’s latest search terms. Users can link directly to a previous search simply by selecting the entry in search history.
----Concept Dictionary
----A comprehensive technical thesaurus covering all disciplines and the inter-relationships of millions of terms. The system can automatically extend a user’s search by recommending related terms (synonym, antonym, hyponym, etc.) to enhance precision and recall.
----Comprehensive Linking
----KNS5.0 enables users to view related materials with ease. Linking between documents, elements, and subjects forms a deep and intertwining knowledge network. Sources are linked by: citations, references, similar documents, authors, institutions, journal titles, keywords, related authors, related institutions, and related keywords.
----Knowledge Network Center
----The Knowledge Network Center is an integral part of the Knowledge Network System. Through the center, users can search across all databases by clicking on an element link (i.e. authors, institutions, etc.) and selecting a target database.
----Knowledge Element Linkage
----Knowledge element links include authors, institutions, journal titles, keywords, related authors, related institutions and related keywords. Through these links, users can search in related fields within the databases that the knowledge network center has configured and look up for the explanation of the term in the knowledge element database by China Academic Journals Electronic Publishing House (CAJEPH).
----Citation Linkage
----It includes citations and references. KNS5.0 ensures a high percentage of successful citation linkage and reference linkage, almost 100%. Besides expanding knowledge discovery, it is also meaningful for individual, institution, dissertation and journal evaluation.
----Similar Documents
----Based on similarity search,KNS5.0 provides links to similar documents from different disciplines in real time at a 100% rate of successful linkage.
----Recommendations
KNS5.0 automatically recommends documents to users based on usage analysis and association rules. The system is capable of self-learning, self-organization, and dynamic updating. The more a user searches the database, the more customized the recommendations become.
